Description:The main audience which the Committee needed to convince to gain financial support for the scheme was the British Government. In the Minute Book it is recorded that the committee approached various members of the Government such as Lord Beaconsfield in order ‘to ascertain his views as to the best mode of carrying out the objects of the association so as to bring them into accord with those of the Government’.
