Description:The depositions suggest that a man named Bryan Broughton was at the root of the accusations against Sir William Leveson-Gower. Broughton’s desposition states that there were ‘two men in a wood’ to whom the mysterious stranger ‘inquired the way to Trentham and hired them to goe with him’. Broughton added that ‘Mr Leveson Gore…met him’ and ‘the men went in to drinke' at Trentham Hall.
