Description:The Sutherland Papers contain a bill issued to Sir John Leveson (1694-1754) by Michael Johnson for books purchased by Gower in 1722. The bill reveals that in July 1722 Gower bought one copy of ‘Solmons Review of the Kings of England’ costing five shillings and sixpence. The whole of Sir John’s purchases from Johnson in 1722 amounted to six pounds, six shillings and sixpence, and included ‘Camden’s Britania’ and the ‘History of Parliament’.
