Description:Thomas Cobb was responsible for the purchase of property in Lichfield for the Gower-Anson interest. His personal involvement in the scheme is evident in a letter he wrote to Granville Leveson-Gower (1721-1803), Earl Gower, concerning a number of burgage properties owned by Mr. William Adey, a Mercer who had recently passed away.

Adey's properties had passed to ‘a particular friend’ of Mr. Cobb who had been promised ‘the refusal’ on them. Cobb informs Lord Gower that if he did not take the properties they would remain in his friend’s hands and ‘be made over to you, & Lord Ansons Interest’.
