Date:June 1895

Description:In June 1895 Henry Wright wrote to the Duke of Sutherland about the cost of fitting out the new yacht. Wright had been examining previous expenditure on yachts including a yacht ‘fitted out for the West Indies’ in 1886, possibly the Catania. Referring to expenditure on the new yacht he writes that ‘the white suits given to the sea men & cook might not be necessary unless you went to a hot climate.’ Wright’s letter reflects the luxurious style of the Duke of Sutherland’s yachts.
