Description:The work of the election agents involved in the 1820 campaign didn’t end when Lord Gower stepped down as a candidate. After his withdrawal from the contest, William Lewis wrote to James Loch suggesting that ‘a circular’ ought to be produced to ‘acknowledge’ the efforts of the ‘many private Gentlemen’ who were ‘very active’ in ‘Lord Gower’s interest’.
