Description:Amongst papers relating to Hanford School is this plan which shows the proposed layout of the School including the new developments following the third Duke's donation of additional land. The School had a large school room and separate classroom in the main building with a separate area for infants or young children who attended the School. The School also had a cloak room for children to store their coats. Like Hanford Children's Home, there was a strict gender division reflected in the layout of Hanford School. The boys had toilets and a coal store on the left, whereas the same facilities for girls were situated on the right hand side of the building. Pencil annotations on the plan show the proposed developments to the school given the Duke's donation of additional land. The area included an extended wall which enclosed separate playgrounds for both the boys and girls with toilet facilities. A 'Schoolmasters House' was situated on the right of the main school building. The master's residence included a sitting room and parlour with a wash house, pantry and scullery. A coal store and closet adjoined the scullery.
