Description:Memoranda in the Sutherland Papers reveals that the third Duke of Sutherland, George Granville William Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (1828-1892), donated a plot of land in Hanford 'as an addition to the Hanford Schools'. The land was tithe free and tax free, and was a charitable donation conveyed 'to the same parties to whom the original site of Hanford National Schools' had been conveyed'in May 1867.
