Description:In a letter from March 6th 1944 Nathan Crawford tells Duchess Millicent that his wife was finding ‘this separation business most difficult.’ He writes that he has written to his wife Betsy informing her ‘that the Archbishop of York recently suggested a form of remarriage, or a service of rededication for couples long separated by the war. I asked her to marry me and am anxiously awaiting her reply!’
