Date:December 1874

Description:Christmas was an extravagant time of year with various guests staying at Trentham Hall over the festive period. In December 1874 the five dogs, excepting Colonel Marshall’s, were kept for seven days costing the household eight shillings and nine pence. One dog who appears to have particularly enjoyed the celebrations belonged to Lord Tarbat. Tarbat’s dog stayed at the Hall from 1st December to 11th January, a total of ’42 days’. His meals alone amounted to ten shillings and sixpence.
