Description:Entries for April 1847 show that a large amount of money was given to charitable causes during this period, particularly to medical institutions. Money of varying amounts between one pound and one shilling to three pounds and three shillings was given to the ‘Christian Knowledge Society’, the ‘Hospital for Consumption’ and ‘King’s College Hospital’.
