Description:Other charitable donations include one pound given to the ‘Dressmakers Association’ and one pound and one shilling given to the ‘Free Hospital’. In July 1846 Duchess Harriet gave a particularly large donation of fifteen pounds to ‘The York Yeoman School’ and five pounds, six shillings and twopence to ‘Mrs Smith’ in order to pay for ‘half the Poor’s Meat Bills’.
