Description:Contrasting with the comfortably furnished bedrooms of the Housekeeper and Steward, the Dairy Maid’s Bedroom featured only a few pieces of furniture. A four poster bed appears to have been the central piece in this room. Unlike the expensive hardwoods used for furniture in the Lady’s Maid’s and Housekeeper’s bedrooms, the Dairy Maid’s bedstead was made from beech. Aside from the bed, the room featured one chair, a small table and a looking glass. Again, the room had only a piece of carpet and window curtains without blinds.

The footmen appear to have shared a large bedroom. The Inventory tells us that the Footman’s Bedroom contained four beds, again all four poster. The four men had a chair each and the room featured two tables. The room also had a sink, a looking glass and each of the four footmen appear to have been given a small piece of carpet.
