Date:28th of April 1860
Description:On April 28th 1860 Duchess Harriet wrote to Loch concerning the gross negligence which Fish had uncovered in the building work at Cliveden. She writes ‘I have not spoken on this worrying subject to the Duke & think it better not to do so’. The Duke was suffering from ill health during this period and it appears that Duchess Harriet had taken over managing the construction work at Cliveden, working closely with the architect Henry Clutton.
