Description:Lord Sidmouth’s reply to Lady Stafford concerning the controversial article agrees that ‘enquiries should be made into the circumstances which led to its insertion’. Replying personally to Lady Stafford, Sidmouth adds that the Newspaper’s Editor defended his publication of the article by stating it ‘appeared to be a regular account of an authorized enquiry’ and was therefore ‘proper to be noticed in that Paper.’ Sidmouth adds that the editor ‘had no grounds for doubting the accuracy’ of the article which had already appeared ‘in the Observer Newspaper of Sunday the 18th of June’.
