Description:A document inside Thomas Clarke’s accounts dated the ‘xvi daye of Aprill 1606’ states that ’William Burton hyusser of the Freeschole of Wolverhamptone’ had ‘receved’ ten shillings from ‘Thomas Clerke of Wolverhamptone, draper for an Annuitye’ which was paid to the usher of the school by ‘Sir Richard Leveson knight’. This ten shillings constituted Burton’s ‘half yeares annuitye’ which was paid to him by the Leveson family.
