Description:Amongst the English authorities who wrote to the Duke expressing their gratitude was the Court of Common Council of London. Their letter dated 23rd April 1864 conveys to the Duke the 'Thanks of the Corporation for your graceful hospitality to General Garibaldi during his stay in this country’.
