Description:Many letters in the Duke’s personal papers relating to Garibaldi’s visit are from Italian and British authorities, expressing thanks to the Duke for his hospitality towards Garibaldi. Giuseppi Datti of Naples wrote to the third Duke ‘to offer you my sincere thanks and those of my political friends for the noble hospitality you so generously extended to our countryman and intimate friend the Italian Patriot General Giuseppe Garibaldi’.
