Description:Amongst the third Duke’s personal correspondence is a letter in French written by Garibaldi himself. Garibaldi thanks the Duke and his ‘noble friends’ for giving him ‘so much solitude’. He also thanks the Duke for his ‘generous idea’ of launching a subscription fund in Garibaldi’s name, but declines the Duke’s offer ‘with gratitude’.
