Description:During the nineteenth century the Leveson-Gower family were involved in the development of a Children's Home for boys and girls in Hanford.
The Sutherland Papers include a number of detailed plans and elevations which show the design and layout of the Home. These documents provide an insight into the function which the Children's Home was intended to serve.
This tracing shows the front of Hanford Children's Home. The elaborate two storey building had an ornate bay window in the centre over a porch constructed on pillars. The porch housed central double doors which formed the entrance to the Children's Home.
