Description:The Marquis of Stafford’s private room contained a ‘Japanned front’ stove and six ‘handsome Rosewood and Gold Elbow Chairs’ with ‘cushions & cases’. The room housed a writing desk and an ‘elegant rosewood cabinet bookcase’. The bookcase had a pair of folding doors, ‘pink silk curtains’ and ‘ornamental locks’. The desks and bookcase indicate that the Marquis used the room for private study and writing his personal correspondence.
