Description:The Sutherland Collection also contains copies of the will of Randall Podmore’s youngest son, ‘Randle Podmore of Namptwich’ who was a ‘feltmaker’. Randle’s will reveals that he left the property he owned in Newcastle to his wife Anne Podmore. This included a ‘Burgage or dwelling house’ which was ‘scituate lying and being in Newcastle under Lyme in the County of Stafford’ on ‘the Lower Street’. He also bequeathed another house in ‘Fryer Lane’ to Anne. The will states that these properties were leased out in 1702, the property on Lower Street to a man named John Simpson, and the property on Fryer Lane to a man named Robert Onion.
