Description:This document concerns payments made to various people in the Hanley, Cobridge, and Shelton area by Granville Leveson-Gower (1721-1803) Marquis of Stafford for roadways driven to get coal from Hanley and Shelton collieries, during period 1783 to 1792.

Among the mines mentioned are Burnwood, Lough, Newhall, Cobridge, and Shelton. Over this period his Lordship paid £526-7 shillings and 1 farthing to sundry people.
