Description:The Estate Accounts for 1898 provide a detailed list of payments made towards building and furnishing ‘Hanchurch Holiday Home’.

A payment of almost seven hundred pounds was made to ‘Boulton & Paul’ for ‘Building as per Contract’, revealing that Boulton & Paul had been responsible for the construction of the Holiday Home. The payments also include details about the interior design of the building, including a payment of seventy two pounds, thirteen shillings and threepence made to J. Edwards & Sons for ‘Bedsteads, Chairs &c’. In addition ‘Bagguley & Wood’ were paid over forty pounds for ‘Baths Fittings &c.’

The expenses listed include payments made for blankets, sheets, rugs, lighting and chimney pieces. Earthenware was also purchased for the Home and a payment of three pounds was made for ‘chintz fringe’.
