Description:The Estate Accounts in the Sutherland Papers provide details about the local charities, societies and institutions that the Leveson-Gower family supported financially.

A list of 'Subscriptions' in the Estate Accounts for 1898 reveals that donations were made to Trentham Church Choir and Sunday School and also to the Trentham Widows Fund. Sunday Schools in Hanford, Blurton and Normacot also received money.

Donations were made to the North Staffordshire Infirmary and also to St. John's Ambulance. Stafford General Infirmary, Longton Cottage Hospital and Birmingham Eye Hospital were also amongst the institutions that received money, reflecting the Leveson-Gower family's support of local medical services.

Many donations were made towards education in Staffordshire. A payment is listed to 'Normacott Schoolmaster in lieu of house', and money was given to the Church Board of Education.

In addition to local medical and educational facilities, the Leveson-Gower family also donated money to Tittensor Clothing Club, Staffordshire Agricultural Society and to the 'widows & orphans of poor clergy' in the 'Archdeaconry of Stafford'. The range of donations made by the family demonstrates their support of many charities and institutions across Staffordshire and the West Midlands.
