King George V Visits Duchess Millicent's Hospital

Date:10th of June 1930

Description:Many prestigious figures, including politicians and royalty visited Duchess Millicent’s hospital, including King George V, Queen Mary and Prince Edward who visited the hospital while it was stationed in Calais in July 1917.

A letter dated June 10th 1930 from King George V to ‘My dear Lady Milly’ recalls his visit to No. 9 Red Cross Hospital. He writes ‘I believe the last time we met was in the war…when you took me round your wonderful hospital & showed me all the poor wounded, on a very hot day, I think at Calais.’
