Description:The Sutherland Papers contain a wide variety of maps and surveys relating to Lichfield during the nineteenth century. The map featured above was produced in 1838 and shows the different parishes in the Borough and the different churches. The central section of the map shows the main streets in the centre of Lichfield and many public buildings, including the Cathedral, the Theatre and a ‘Hospital for 15 Poor Women’. The Free School, Free Grammar School and National School in Lichfield are also represented on the map alongside the Town Hall and City Prison.
