Description:The Sutherland Papers contain a number of plans and elevations of buildings located on the Duke of Sutherland's lands in Hanford. Many of these buildings were constructed for philanthropic purposes, to provide educational facilities for children such as the Children's Home.

One series of plans shows exterior and interior views of Hanford Sunday School. The drawings from the nineteenth century show the construction and layout of the Sunday School including alterations and additions which were planned for the building. This investment in the Sunday School suggests that the institution played an important part in community life in Hanford.

The plan above shows exterior views of the Sunday School building, including the porch over one of the two entrances to the School. To see more drawings of the building, click on the images on the left.
