Description:During the late 1880s George Granville William Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (1828-1892), the third Duke of Sutherland, was involved in the development of Hanford School. The Duke donated land for the expansion of the school buildings and the provision of playgrounds for the children.
On 18th July 1889 John Elliot wrote to George Menzies, the third Duke's Agent, enclosing 'tracings shewing the Land given to the Hanford Schools'.
