Date:10th of September 1810 - 11th of September 1810 (c.)

Description:In addition to the record of bread and beer distributed to the poor, the Lodge Porter kept a record of any unusual activity which occured after hours at Trentham.

On 10th-11th September 1810 an incident occurred at the Poultry Farm at Trentham Hall when a number of chickens and ducks were stolen. The Lodge Porter's Book states that 'between the hours of eight, nine, and ten in the evenings' a person had climbed into the farm and 'took from thence six ducks & two hens'.

Although the book reports that 'the Poultry woman' and her son had heard a commotion they failed to tell 'the Watchman on duty' and didn't mention the incident until the following day.
