Date:1833

Description:The image above shows the copper plate which was used by the Trentham Estate Office to print notices of receipt on behalf of George Granville Leveson-Gower, first Duke of Sutherland (1758-1833).

The paper image shows what the receipt looked like when it was printed. The Leveson-Gower family's heraldic coat of arms can be seen in the top left hand corner.

The text featured on the receipt tells us that it was given to tenants on the Trentham estate on receipt of their half yearly rents. The copper plate would have been invaluable to the estate office at Trentham where many tenants paid their rents and required receipts.
