Description:The Sutherland Papers include many vouchers and receipts for purchases made by the third Duke and his family. These documents tell us about Sutherland family life and the type of products available in the late nineteenth century. The vouchers also provide details of the different types of companies and stores around at this time.

One voucher relates to a payment of five shillings and eight pence made to ‘Edward Dye & Co Lemon Juice Cordial Manufacturers’. The receipt describes the company as purveyors of ‘Rose’s, Heddle’s and Coutt’s Lime Juice Cordials’, dated January 7th 1881.
