Description:Margaret Heath from the William Salt Library has traced her family history back to a man named Richard Rhead (1756-1813). Richard Rhead’s will made in 1813 tells us that he was a farmer in Hanchurch in the Parish of Trentham.

Using the Sutherland Papers, Margaret worked with Sutherland Papers Project staff to research Richard Rhead and his family. Surveys, rentals and estate accounts were examined to discover more about the lives of the Rhead family on the Trentham estate in the eighteenth century.
