Description:Amongst household accounts kept during Duchess Harriet's lifetime is an account book for ‘Cliveden Gardens’, for ‘R. Nicholson Tea & Italian Warehouse Maidenhead’.

One of these small volumes relates to orders made for Cliveden Gardens from ‘R. Nicholson Tea & Italian Warehouse’ in Maidenhead.

The products ordered included ‘Candles’, ‘Tobacco’, and ‘Matches’. Soap and Lead were also ordered from this supplier, as was cleaning hardware such as ‘Emery Cloth'. In addition to these items, ‘Hearthstones’ and also food products such as ‘Salt’ and ‘Pepper’ were frequently purchased. Other entries tell us that ‘30 1/2 Cheese’ was ordered for one pound, two shillings and ten and a half pence, as well as ‘Soda’, ‘Seed’ and a ‘Shoe Brush’ costing nine shillings.

Elsewhere in the book are entries for balls of twine, carpet brooms, Yellow Soap and Linseed.
