Description:The Sutherland Papers contain many bundles of correspondence relating to the Cotes estate in Eccleshall. A man named J. H. Menzies acted as agent for this estate, and there are a wide variety of letters, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to the Cotes estate in the early twentieth century.

These lands were occupied by a man named Colonel Cotes who also owned Pitchford Hall in Shrewsbury. The Sutherland Papers contain a number of entertaining letters from Colonel Cotes to his agent Menzies who had responsibilities for both the Eccleshall estate and Pitchford Hall.
