Description:The image above shows a plan of fields in Cherrington made in 1576. The plan includes a huge amount of detail telling us about the township of Cherrington during the late sixteenth century.

Landmarks and features in the landscape surrounding ‘Cherrington Towne’ are included on the plan, such as lanes, marshes, gates and fields. ‘The kings hye way’ and other roads are marked on the plan, as are lakes. Many of the areas featured include description, such as a path described as ‘the Pambulation in ould tyme’.
