Description:In 1793 agents at the Estate Office at Trentham Hall produced an inventory of plate at the Hall. The document, shown above, is annotated with writing which indicates that the inventory was correct in April 1799 except for ‘4 desert spoons’.

The document provides an insight into the type and amount of plate at Trentham Hall. The list includes a gold tumbler, a stone goblet, two large tankards, one mustard spoon, ‘12 tall Candles sticks in box’ and 8 more ‘not so tall’. Tobacco dishes, a lemon strainer and ‘8 salt spoons’ also feature. A case of cutlery containing over 30 items, forty eight new knives, two bread baskets and a soup ladle were also inventoried by the Office.
