Description:In March 1804 Mr. Owen compiled a scheme for ‘Cultivating the Demesne Land at Trentham Hall'. The document featured above describes the agricultural lands which surrounded Trentham Hall and the proposals which Owen made to utilise this land effectively.

Owen intended to sew grass seeds in some of the fields such as Northwood. Other fields including Halsefield would be sewn ‘part with Turnips’ and part ‘with Cabbage & Potatoes’.

Owen’s proposals list the names of fields which were going to be used for Hay such as Liddles Croft and Tays Meadow. He also lists the fields being used for pasture such as Cotefeild’s Paddock and South Lawn. Pencil annotations on Owen’s scheme refer to the amount of stock on the demesne land which included dairy cows, pigs and sheep.
