Trentham Hall and Education in North Staffordshire
Earlier in 1905 the Duke had ‘intimated’ that he intended ‘closing Trentham Hall as a residence’ and had been considering ‘various ways of turning the Building to some good account’. He wrote to the Chairman offering the property as ‘the Technical College for North Staffordshire’ which was ‘in Contemplation by the Education Authorities of the County’.
The Duke asked the Chairman for his opinion, noting that ‘other important houses’ may have been considered more suitable.
The fourth Duke of Sutherland also gave land for the establishment of educational facilities in Longton. Click on the image on the left to learn more.
