Domestic Life: Supplies for the Poor

Date: 20 September 1873

Description: As Clerk to the Duke of Sutherland’s Accountant, Mr. Prentice was responsible for sending out cheques to Mrs. Ingram, the Housekeeper at Trentham, to pay for supplies and to pay the servant’s wages. On 26th June 1872 Prentice sent a cheque to Mrs. Ingram with a letter stating ‘I have sent to day a Box containing some tins of pretend Meat &c’. He asks Mrs. Ingram to ensure ‘that they are given to the poor people’.
